Devoxx4Kids
A new Devoxx4Kids day was organized in our Faculty this Saturday, October 28th. It was an opportunity for us to do a micro-bit workshop. We proposed an “electroacoustic” workshop which was a moment of recreation for the children, kept sitting in most other workshops. We welcomed them in a place where they were offered to mix electrical circuits and music.
After a little explanation of what is a micro-bit and of electrical circuits, we presented them different small “discovery activities”.
Among these “discovery activities” were the electric piano in XXL version, an electric guitar,
a speed duel game, and a pattern recognition game to make them run a little. :p
All these activities work in the same way than the piano (sea explanation) by using the pins of the micro:bit.
After testing and discovering what micro:bit, buzzers and some cables (and a lot of aluminum) could do, and because they did not have enough, the children wanted to program the micro:bit. Some used their imagination and created their own music and animations (a leaping lama). Others have created their own small electrical circuit thanks to the “inventor kit”, they could make themselves a mini fan or light a led and adjust its intensity.
